Project Overview
About the Scholarship
The Global Excellence Scholarship is the University of Dundee’s headline award for international undergraduates starting in January 2027. Worth £7,500 per year of study, it is applied directly to tuition fees for every year of an eligible degree — not just the first — which materially changes the total cost of a Scottish education. Dundee, a compact city university with strong life-sciences, computing, business and art & design faculties, runs a January intake for a defined list of programmes, and this scholarship exists specifically to make that intake attractive to strong international applicants. Classes for the January 2027 cohort begin on 19 January, and the scholarship closes at 23:59 UK time on 30 January 2027.

What the Funding Covers
The scholarship is a £7,500-per-year tuition-fee discount for each year of an eligible undergraduate programme, provided the programme fee is £21,800 or above. It is not a cash stipend: living costs, accommodation and any fee remainder remain the student’s responsibility. Dundee’s rule that a student may hold more than one university scholarship only up to a maximum of 50% of total tuition applies — if you combine this award with another Dundee scholarship, the total discount is capped at half your fee. Living costs in Dundee remain among the most reasonable of any Scottish university city, which is why the award stretches further there than equivalent scholarships in Edinburgh or London.
Eligibility Criteria
- International fee status (assessed for overseas fees).
- Hold an offer for a full-time undergraduate programme starting 19 January 2027.
- Programme fee must be £21,800 or above per year.
- Applicants to the January 2027 intake specifically (the September 2026 intake has its own deadline).
- Scholarship total across all Dundee awards capped at 50% of tuition.
How to Apply
First apply for your chosen January-start undergraduate programme through UCAS or directly to the university and receive an offer. Then complete the scholarship application on the official Dundee scholarship page before 30 January 2027, 23:59 UK time. The form asks for your student number and programme details, so an offer in hand is a prerequisite. Because the deadline falls on the day teaching starts, every practical step — offer, funding plan, visa — has to be in place well before it; treat mid-December as your real target.
Important Notes
Check that your intended degree actually runs a January 2027 start — Dundee’s January intake covers a specific programme list, not the full catalogue. If your programme fee is below the £21,800 threshold, this award does not apply and Dundee’s other international scholarships are the right route. Applicants from South Asia should also check Dundee’s dedicated regional award pages, which list this scholarship with the same terms for their region.
