Project Overview
About the Position
Wageningen University & Research invites applications for a PhD position developing green facades for building insolation and enhanced urban diversity. The project studies how vegetated facade systems affect building heat loads and urban microclimates, and how different plant systems support urban biodiversity, connecting green-infrastructure engineering with ecology.
The doctoral candidate will combine measurements on pilot facades, microclimate modelling and ecological monitoring to quantify performance across climate conditions and design variants. The results inform urban planners and building designers on when and how green facades deliver cooling and biodiversity benefits. The appointment follows the Dutch CAO-NU collective agreement with a gross monthly salary between EUR 3,204 and EUR 4,051 at 38 hours per week.
Candidate Profile
Applicants hold a master's degree in environmental science, urban technology, building physics, plant science or a related field, with an interest in both quantitative measurement and ecological assessment. Experience with sensor data or microclimate modelling is an advantage. The working language is English.
