Project Overview
About the Position
UMCG is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in neurobiology with a focus on multiple sclerosis. The researcher joins a laboratory studying the immunological and neurodegenerative mechanisms that drive disease progression in MS, using cellular models and human tissue material available through the centre's clinical programmes.
The postdoc will design and execute experiments linking immune-cell behaviour with neuroaxonal damage, analyse molecular datasets, and contribute to the group's translational agenda of identifying treatment-relevant mechanisms. The position is a salaried postdoctoral appointment under the CAO-UMC collective agreement, with mentoring towards independent research and grant writing.
Candidate Profile
Applicants hold a PhD in neurobiology, immunology, molecular biology or a related field, with demonstrated experience in cell-culture models, immunological assays and molecular data analysis. The group values candidates who bring both experimental rigour and the ability to work across clinical and basic-science boundaries. English is the working language of the laboratory, and the postdoc participates in the centre's neuroscience research school and international collaborations.
